No Published Date On Your Content? You Got Problems, BIG Problems

[Via IHT] Last week, US$1 billion was wiped out of the market value of UAL (United Airlines’ parent company) within minutes of an erroneous news flash on Bloomberg screens about United Airlines filing for bankruptcy. The stock plunge was instigated by a series of cascading human and machine errors; and all because the date of the original article was wrong!

Free Alternative to MS Visio

Came across DIA, whilst searching for alternatives to Visio. DIA is pretty much like ‘Visio’, except that it is free! It too can be used to draw E-R diagrams, UML diagrams, flowcharts, network diagrams, and simple circuits. To find out how good or bad it is, I tried out this simple use case diagram (left).

Free Alternative to MS Project

A colleague introduced me to GanttProject last week. I been using it a lot since. Its just so simple and easy to use, yet delivering almost all functionality as that of Microsoft Project. Another point thats very appealing about it is that, GanttProject is free! (A license for that evil MS Project costs around S$1000).
